WPA Enterprise secure wireless network

With the standard “Physics” wireless network, you need to log in by opening a web browser after connecting, and your transmitted traffic is unencrypted, leading to privacy and security concerns.

With the “PhysicsWPA” network, you authenticate using your stored physics username and password, and an encrypted connection is created, which is (almost) as secure as a wired connection.

You should see a wireless network name (SSID) called 'PhysicsWPA', when browsing wireless networks in Tate Lab. You can connect to this using the following settings:

  • WPA2, AES, PEAP (mschapv2)

More specific directions for connecting using various systems are given below:

Operating System Specific Directions

PhysicsWPA uses your Physics account

Please note that your University internet (x.500) account does not currently work for WPA. You must login using your physics account.

Note - you need to have changed your Physics password within the last few years to be able to log in to the WPA network, otherwise we may not have the correct information stored to authenticate you.
