Here is some information about the preliminary oral exam Why is it important? * Once you pass your the exam, you are officially in the PhD program. Don't you want to be there as soon as possible? * You can register for thesis credits (you need 24 of them) only after you take the oral exam. Spring plans In the spring, we will still have a few research seminars. We need to find a most convenient time for the majority (on Fridays). Please indicate your time conflicts and/or preferred time by entering your name in the appropriate columns below. Between 10am and 2:15pm, there are 5012, 5002, 4911, 8011, 4211 and TA seminar and we cannot have the research seminar.

The Journal Club is a course dedicated to the study of interesting papers in a wide range of physics topics. The course is intended for second-year students and is intended as a forum to learn to critically analyze physics papers.
