Physics runs a firewall configuration which blocks all unwanted incoming connections from both the university and the internet in general, and also controls traffic between the internal subnets.

It is possible to set firewall exceptions for specific hosts in some circumstances, though we require a strong business case to do so.

Wireless access is available over most of Tate Lab. We continue to add coverage as needed (let us know if the signal is poor in a particular area). Most of the building now supports 802.11a and 802.11b/g wireless standards.

	* Note that Windows file sharing is not available between wireless and wired networks (with the exception of our “PUBLIC” server for printing).
