Recently formed extragalactic science working group, currently 15 members (+pending)
current approach: extragalactic science cases given CORE design
Galaxy clusters: - finding clusters, cosmology, CIB and radio contamination, y-maps, individual tSZ, kSZ, and rSZ for cluster science
Galaxy formation at z > 2 - properties of star-formation (SF) during the peak of SF via the CIB
Velocity fields - cosmology, contamination, systematics
Thermodynamic of galaxy formation - feedback, non-thermal pressure, ionized baryon content
Reionization - Optical depth constraints, kSZ power spectrum, mid-point and duration of reionization
Gravitational lensing? Need to involve experts in lensing/delensing, currently involved in extragalactic science working group
SH: what resolution is needed? at 150
GHz CMBP will not have 1' resolution. NB: OK to have 1' at the higher frequencies to complement ground-based telescopes. JM: Why are Planck beams not diffraction limited at high frequencies? BC: Not enough signal band width. JM: Can we handle signal band width for diffraction limited beams at ~800
GHz? Amy: we can accommodate 150 Mbits/s for approximately 2 hours a day
SH: What frequencies are important for cluster science? NB: up to 500-600
