Telecon Notes 20170705

Attendance: Borrill, Hanany, Lawrence, Knox, Kogut, Crill
Notes by: Knox

Hanany: galactic science working group update

* Dave Chuss and Laura Fissel will co-lead this.
* Will solicit input from the community interested in galactic magnetic fields.

Update on 1st workshop (on foregrounds, possibly foregrounds + systematics)

* Trouble with combining with KISS, so not doing that
* Dates: Looking at the last week of October (starting Oct 23), or potentially the following week for 2 to 3 days
* Location: San Diego
* Include systematics? JB argues against it. FG modeling is a huge constraint on all of the experiments. This is a community activity. Doesn't mix well with more specific instrument topic of systematics.
* BC thinks this may be too soon in the process to have a useful systematics workshop.
* CL emphasizes need to control systematics at the nK level, way beyond what's been done. Systematics very important and we should not put it off.
* BC and SH to be in touch to discuss systematics workshop, and whether it is added on to fg workshop, or separate
* If there are issues of space in San Diego, JB says LBL is an option.

2nd workshop: time, location, announcement?

Science and Complementarity Workshop
* When: SH says some time between March 2018 and June 2018
* Goals:
AK says a major goal is to show NASA HQ and Decadal Committee that there is a lot of interest in this topic.
AK suggests Maybe a white paper would be good output from this workshop. SH says our report could be a white paper.
