===== AARM Collaboration Meeting at SLAC. March 4, 2013 ===== ==== Integrative Tools for Underground Science ==== The Assay and Acquisition of Radiopure Materials is a collaboration dedicated to identifying and developing the shared needs and infrastructure for Underground Science across experiments and between sites. Unlike previous workshops, this is a one-day meeting held in conjunction with the Snowmass2013 Cosmic Frontier Workshop. A second meeting in April will be held at the Low Radiation Techniques Workshop in Gran Sasso LRT2013. See the bottom of this wiki for details on our LRT2013 Travel Aid program for young researchers. ==== Registration is common to all three meetings ==== * Registration * Monday 8:30 - 6 AARM Collaboration Meeting * Tuesday is the DURA Meeting with discussions of Underground Facilities worldwide * Wed-Fri is the Cosmic Frontier Community Planning Session: Cosmic Frontier ==== Location Details ==== * AARM will be in the Kavli 3rd Floor Conference Room (building 51, room 305). A map can be found on the SLAC Cosmic Frontier Website referenced above. * ReadyTalk is available for remote connection. We cannot sponsor your travel to the Cosmic Frontier Workshop, but we can defray expenses for speakers and for the extra cost of attending the AARM collaboration meeting in addition to the Cosmic Frontier. You simply fill out the , include a copy of the receipts, and send to * Jody Kaplan * Tate Lab of Physics * University of Minnesota * 116 Church St SE 55455, USA. The packet can also be scanned and emailed to kaplan@physics.umn.edu You are entitled to a $50.00 per diem for meals at the Monday AARM meeting. Do remember that, as required by the Fly America act, you can only be reimbursed for tickets associated with an American Carrier for flights in the US, but for flights in Europe/Australia/Switzerland, you can use other carriers. Most flights in both countries are associated with each other anyway through alliances, so this rule has really been relaxed. ==== Special Travel Fellowship Aid ==== In order to increase U.S. participation in the LRT2013 Workshop, the AARM collaboration will provide travel awards of up to $800 for U.S. faculty and senior scientists and up to $1500 for U.S. junior physicists (post-doctoral researchers and graduate students). Preference will be given to applicants giving talks or presenting posters at the Workshop. The online application consists of a research abstract and is linked from the LRT2013 websiteRegistration. Applications are due by February 18, 2013, and award notifications will be made by February 25, 2013. The AARM collaboration includes representatives from major dark matter and double beta decay experiments, as well as from the geology and microbiology communities, working together to better understand low-radioactivity environments and improve technologies for particle detection, simulation techniques, and material screening. This support is provided under the NSF grant no. 1242640, Integrative Tools for Underground Science. Approval of your Travel Award will be by email. You will then be directed to the reimbursement site
