====== May 10, 2013 Neutron Benchmarking Working Group Summary Meeting ====== ==== Agenda ==== * [[https://zzz.physics.umn.edu/lowrad/_media/langford_lrt2013.pdf|The FaNS detector technology]] - Thomas Langford * [[https://zzz.physics.umn.edu/lowrad/_media/lrt_lr_2013.pdf|Neutron-yield from the ZEPLIN III veto]] - Lea Reichhart * {{:nmm:ls_neudetmay07_13_chao.pdf|USD Neutron Detector Update}} - Chao Zhang ==== Notes ==== //Attending:// Tom, Lea, Raul, Chao, Mani, Yu, Ray, Prisca and Joel //Since these are summary meetings and the details of what was discussed are largely contained in the linked presentations, I will not report detailed minutes. Instead, I'll note any logistical details and followup action items.// * The presentation material turned out to be too interesting to stuff all three agenda items into a single hour. I suspect we could easily have spent an entire hour on each subject. Consequently, Lea's presentation was once again bumped to the next meeting. For the next summary meeting, we'll likely discuss Lea's LRT slides as well as an update from the MIT group. Further, I think we'll have this meeting relatively soon... possibly before the end of the month. I (ray) will coordinate via email. * I've asked our new working-group (WG) members to consider the WG as a resource. Along these lines, Tom is interested in getting started with a Geant4 simulation of the FaNS detector. He has MCNP and SolidWorks models and is wondering if there's a reasonable method for converting either of these geometries into a Geant4 geometry file. Can any of our simulation experts comment? (I've also sent an email request) * Chao's presentation has implications for the Depth Task Force's pending white paper. Those involved should take the time to carefully consider his slides and provide feedback as appropriate, preferably before next Thursday's Depth Task Force meeting (4:30 pm eastern on May 16).
