====== Power Estimate ======
The first draft in pdf form of an xls spreadsheet maintained by Lee Petersen {{:engineering:faarm_power_consumption_estimate_2009-12.pdf|version 12/2009}}

the power estimate basis is

  - base power consumption values come from the wiki documentation 
  - the diversity factor is my estimate of the percentage of the time that the experimental gear would be consuming power, e.g. the clean machine shop is assumed to consume the base power only 25 percent of the time 
  - I have a detailed spreadsheet, that I have not shared, that lists all floor space sizes and uses power consumption rates from 0.5 to 2.5 W/sf (these are approximate rules of thumb) 
  - I assumed, without much basis, that the receptacle loads were equal to the lighting loads 
  - The air handler power consumption was extrapolated from LUX/MJ 
  - All of the power loads described above are subtotaled 
  - The chiller power consumption is based on a rule of thumb of 50 percent of the subtotal
