Some of the information posted here came by e-mail after telecon.
Status of NASA Proposal
Eric reports that about 40 proposals have been submitted.
NASA plans to finish review process by mid-end February, with money available shortly after
Steve reports that our proposal had a total budget of $1.6M (about 10 sub-contracts).
People point out that workshop dates needs to be advertised very soon, particularly for the first two workshops. The technology workshop, which is the last one, already has a scheduled date: the last week of August.
Aspen Workshop
No program is yet available.
Shaul has reserved a slot to discuss the goal and work of the PPPDT.
The talk will be combined with a presentation about the work planned under the NASA grant.
Non of the people attending the telecon had firm plans to attend the workshop, so Shaul is currently scheduled to deliver the talk. This may change.
Bennett's Suggesion
Positive feedback to the idea all around.
Scott Dodelson who is the organizer of the theory workshop, and perhaps others in the theory team should attend these telecons.
Idea can be extended to having periodic informal discussions of other topics that are related to the decadal panel report in the PPPDT telecon.
Next telecon
Many of us are meeting in Washington, either by phone or in person, in about 10 days. Everyone is invited to attend.
There may be a telecon on Dec. 20. An e-mail will be distributed ahead of time. Otherwise, next telecon is in 2008.
