Shaul reviews near term requirements of decadal survey raises following questions: - should we have only one white paper or several, each discussing different topics, - the ASC has a 'ground project' panel separate from a 'space project' panel. Should we have two separate papers, or the same paper to both, or some other combination.
Prevailing opinion is to have a single, coherent CMB science white paper that focuses on Inflation. Mentioning other topics is fine, but primary goal should be Inflation. The ASC will look to lift language from the white papers into the final report. We should write our report with the goal of providing quotable material for the ASC.
For projects, same opinion. Write one coherent report. Send it to both program committees, let them understand that this is our approach.
Brief discussion of language of NOI. Shaul will check about the formal definitions of project phases as listed in the call for NOI.
PPPDT agrees with other plans for white papers (e.g. a small sub-committee that will help Scott put the first draft together; call for broad participation by everyone interested; see the material for the telecon).
