====== Thunderbird Setup ====== | |

The first time you launch Thunderbird an Account Wizard window will appear. If asked whether or not to import anything, choose "Don't import anything" and click Next. On the next window, choose "Email account" as shown below and click Next. | |

Fill in your Name and Email address as shown and click Next. | |

Choose the "IMAP" option and fill in the Incoming and Outgoing Servers as shown and click Next. | |

Fill in your Physics user name and click Next. | |

Here you can enter a description of this mail account. Anything should be fine here. Click Next. | |

While the wizard helped fill in most of the blanks, you must make some changes before you can send and receive mail. | |

First, open the "Account Settings" window found under the "Tools" menu (found under the "Edit" menu on Linux machines), choose the "Server settings" item, and in the "Security settings" group select the "TLS" radio button. | |

Next, choose the "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" item. Click the "Edit..." button and fill in the correct Server Name and Port as shown below. Make sure the "Use name and password" box is checked and your Physics user name is filled in. Choose the "TLS" option under "Use secure connection" and click "OK". Click "OK" once more and that's it. You should now be able to send and receive mail. | |
