Physics Computing: Contact Information

Graham Allan and Alex Schumann make up the support team for the Physics and Astronomy computer systems. They support the physics and astronomy servers, administrative staff, the network, and linux and windows workstations.

Questions & Requests

  • First, check this website - your question may already be answered here.
  • Contact us using this contact form - This will create a help ticket which we will use to track your issue. It also allows us to track trends and recurring problems, and ensure we collect the information we need to process your request.
  • Send email to net@physics.umn.edu - another way to get your question in the ticket system.
  • Phone Graham at 4-5040, or Alex at 6-1139, or look for us in room S43. Please consider that this method provides no tracking for you or for us and does not allow us to prioritize our work as we should. As such, this method is strongly discouraged except for emergencies or instances where there is no better method.

Urgent Response

In dire emergency outside of normal office hours (such as major server or network problems), you can also reach Graham or Alex by phone at home, and by pager. The numbers are in the printed version of the department directory.

University Systems

For issues with university systems, such as Enterprise systems (Peoplesoft, etc) or the central email system, please call the ADCS help desk at 1-HELP (612-301-4357).
