For personally-owned devices, you can request a Home-Use Mathematica License here: http://www.wolfram.com/siteinfo/homeuse/ You will also need the site activation key.

site activation key

To obtain our site activation key and license ID, run mathematica on one of our unix or windows systems and run the commands:

$ActivationKey
$LicenseID

Students

For students, the College of Science and Engineering makes Mathematica available to its students and those in other colleges that pay the CSE Technology Fee. More information is available here

Installation Instructions

For full installation instructions, you should consult the directions at the Wolfram Documentation Web Site.

License Setup

There is a PDF README file in the software downloads area along with the mathematica installers which has directions for obtaining a license. Use “Option 1” the machine specific / stand alone installation. You will need to obtain a password from Wolfram. You should (after some time) receive a license code by email.

Finding your MathID

Either run the Mathematica installer - the licensing setup routine will provide the MathID for you.

or…

Run Mathematica and type $MachineID (shift-Enter).
