The university has a campus-wide agreement for Windows upgrades, as well as for Microsoft Office for Windows and Mac OS X.

As of summer 2012, the university discontinued its agreement with Apple for Mac OS upgrades, apparently because Apple were attempting to force purchase of a larger and more expensive software bundle.

CD or DVD images may be downloaded from the UTools web site.

The agreement covers all computers which are owned or leased by the University of Minnesota.

To install most of these products you will also need a software product key, which is available alongside the downloads. Windows Vista and later do not use product keys; they instead contact an on-campus license server periodically.
