Notes
Soumen is back at work. He is running the analysis on the maps that Clem posted. He is checking the masks. He confirms that the previous results that he generated did not use a mask.
He is asking about the level of suppression of the lensing power spectrum. Clem points out to the documentation files. The AL..15 files have AL=0.15, which means that there is 85% suppression of the lensing power spectrum.
Giuseppe discusses his paper about the CO lines.
They were using a polarization of 1% for the CO emission, but he thinks - and another expert in Paris also commented - that the average level should be ~x10 smaller, about 0.1%.
For 1% the polarization becomes important at r=0.025, but for 0.1% expect it to be relevant at 0.0025.
What mitigation? What can be done for PICO?
PB and Simmons are attempting to avoid the lines by placing the bands such that there is a low level response in the band spectra (0.3). SH says that Jacques pointed out that there are many more line, although not as strong, so perhaps 'avoiding the lines' is not the right strategy.
Giuseppe proposes to take the PICO noise and bands, and check how many of the simulated clouds PICO can detect and therefore mask, and what is the residual B that can be generated by the remaining that are below the noise level.
