Noise Modeling for CMB Probe

Roger O'Brient

This page summarizes work on TDM noise models. We should probably create one page for noise models of both TDM and FDM flavors, for one-stop-shopping. We could edit this page to add in FDM computations as well.

What's done so far:

  • Loading model constructed, applied to 30K Primary
  • Computed bolometer Gs & taus
  • Ploted NEI vs frequency
  • Computed NEP white-noise plateau
  • Compared to B2/Keck Data
  • 1/f noise study (emperical results, pulled from the literature)

To do:

  • adjust the sampling frequency and nyquist inductors to study how aliased noise changes
  • Repeat analysis for 4K primary (?) Also repeat analysis for more realistic loads from window and filters, whose loading will not be negligable.
  • Generalize to higher MUX factors
  • Make plots of noise vs stage temp and optics for Chris' cryo design.
  • Form focal plane mass estimates for Chris' cryo design.

Slide decks for public discussion:

Note: slides are a funny way to add content to a wiki, but since they lend themselves well to JPL's document release protocol, I will put most technical content in that form.
