Action Items from July 18, 2013

  • Vitaly will run 100,000 muons from MUSUN using the old Map (b) for Homestake
  • Angie will use the MUSUN library call described by Anthony's slides for Homestake as well.
  • Comparing these two will confirm that our muons are being produced properly
  • Toni will provide a new LS summary plot of FLUKA v Data for different energies without some of the suspect data points – only the exp. values are included in the graph for the muon induced neutron yield in liquid scintillator (with references) nyield.pdf plus a recent (NIM A 615, 220-222, 2010) Geant4 simulation:
  • Anthony will provide the Geant4 curve to go on Toni's plot
  • Monica and Angie need to understand why the muons coming in from all sides of the tank are so different between LXe and Ge.
  • All Simulators (Angie, Chao, and Monica) need to send emails with the exact details of how they are doing the muon simulation for the “best model” in the comparison table.
  • All Simulators have to agree on using the same methodology: Parallelpiped with Map (b) MUSUN program as a Geant4 call, and start new simulations using this.
  • Chao needs to figure out the muon distribution zenith angle problem near vertical and redo the distribution using the appropriate cos theta (steradian-based)
  • Is there also still a normalization problem in the Geant4 vs MUSUN muon spectral comparison plot? Didn't we decide that was the difference between MUSUN and Geant4 (green)?
