Campuses:
Monica presented a few slides as an update, see above. Angie has run the code, but still needs to collate the results of her analysis. She and Monica expect to have some direct comparisons ready by our next teleconference which is Oct 4 at the 3:30 pm Thursday time slot. Monica will not be able to attend, but David will present her slides.
Chao has analyzed almost a year of data from the USD neutron detector at Soudan, but needs to compare with cosmogenic simulation and radiogenic contaminant data from the cavern. Angie will send info on where to find the muon files and MUSUN code, and Prisca will contribute further information as to the overburden and slant path files. In addition, Prisca will send Chao information on the Soudan rock U/Th/K content.
Raul cannot commit more time to this project, but has a good start on the FLUKA work, which includes Homestake muon files. We need to identify a person to take over his work. Specifically, Melinda is interested in either having Raul run the code with Soudan MUSUN or in learning how she can interface with someone who will do this. Perhaps there is a grad student who can take this on. It would be very useful for disentangling discrepancies found between Mei&Hime parameterization and Geant4 results for Soudan. Meanwhile, Raul already has the Homestake files and we need to figure out how to input them to Geant4 for running the LAr simulation at Homestake depths. Angie and Prisca will try to get information from Raul on the file format - or Raul can tell us if he is reading these minutes !
The resulting white paper will be very useful for the SNOWMASS community planning, so we recommitted to getting something out, but realistically this will not happen until January. We discussed where the white paper is published - possibly a computation or online journal, possibly just the archive. We will put possibilities on the depth wiki and ponder this.
