Clean Machine Shop
Description/Name: Machine shop located inside the class 2000 clean room environment at 4850 level
Planned use (be specific):
Primary function: Prepare Copper for shielding and interior fixtures, lead, poly shielding, repairing screeners, repair experiments, build pieces for ultra-sensitive tank (or is that done off site?) Any building for FAARM will require early deployment of machine shop
Temporary and permanent storage: clean tool storage, wipes and cloths, alcohol, distilled water, detergent,
Sample and detector handling: nitrogen purge cabinet for temporary holding during machining
Jigs, fixtures, scaffolds: lathe, jigsaw, cutter, computer controlled anything?, (Jim Beaty is thinking…), welding machine??smoke?, ultrasonic, ability to machine lead, Be, other hazardous solids.
