+Since these are NSF funds, you can only be reimbursed for tickets associated with an American Carrier for flights in the US, but via the recent Open Skies agreement you can use other carriers for flights in Europe/Australia/Switzerland.  Most flights in both countries are associated with each other anyway through alliances, so this rule has really been relaxed.
