Campuses:
Search Engine Keith and Ben explored using the query within couchDB using the tools that already exist in CouchDB. They were able to get it functioning.
Cloudant Matthew reported on his exploration of Cloudant (a web based server that James suggests we consider using). It is like Lucence but on the web which also uses Persephone and has CouchDB as it's database backbone. Matthew reported that it was easy to set up a profile and make a test database using the Cloudant server.
There are several issues of which we should be aware. First, it is not a free service. The cost is $1 per I/O. We get 5 million I/O for free per month. Storage cost $1 per GB. Currently, our database is much less than 1 GB. However, we are not sure what Cloudant considers and I/O and will investigate. Also, we were a little concerned if there may be any intellectual property rights issues. A little investigation into their policies indicated that intellectual property rights should not be an issue.
