We (er, who exactly?) build ROOT directly out of subversion using the script /local/ups/scripts/root_build_svn. The built software is then installed into UPS.

ROOT can also be built in the usual method of Unix programs:

• Download a tar ball
• Unpack
• Run configure script
• Run “make”
