Here is some information about how the department will support you if you want to go to a conference or workshop.

Physics graduate students who have been accepted as speakers or as poster presenters at a conference or APS meeting (or equivalent meeting). Astrophysics students should contact their DGS.

The department will pay half of your expenses, up to $750 per trip, with a career total of no more than $1500.

As many times as you want as long as the career total of $1500 is not exceeded.

Travel awards will be awarded as lump-sum travel fellowships. Students must submit by email a formal request to the Director of Graduate Studies (Joseph Kapusta: kapusta@physics.umn.edu) with a copy to Kari Schuster (grad@physics.umn.edu). Requests shall be in the form of an abstract and estimated budget and if approved, the student will receive a fellowship not to exceed $750 or half of the total estimated cost of the trip, whichever is less.
