The system and user home areas of the centrally-supported UNIX and Linux systems are backed up daily. Daily and weekly snapshots are available in /backup/home and /backup/home-weekly in case you need to recover files.

Older files may need to be recovered from tape.

Unix/Linux systems do also contain many (usually project-specific) data areas; it's important to note that these are not centrally backed up - please make your own arrangements for these areas.
