More Information
Many packages such as cernlib, root, geant, etc are provided via the UPS product manager. Use the command ups list -aK+
to get a brief listing of all such packages. More information is available in our introduction to UPS.
These applications and packages are available to all users by default.
Supported on Tru64 and Linux. Start Mathematica using the command mathematica
for the XWindows notebook-style interface, or math
for the terminal-based interface.
MatLab is started using the matlab
command. Extensive online help is available.
On Tru64 and Linux systems, cernlib is available through the UPS setup
command (setup cern
). Several versions of cernlib may be available - use ups list
to find out which.
After running setup cern
, some environment variables (eg CERNLIB
) will be set to enable location of the libraries.
Available via the UPS setup root
command.

Spitzer Pride includes Spot (Tool for Planning Observations) and Leopard (Archive Tool). Spot is a software package used by Spitzer observers to plan observations and submit proposals, and Leopard is a software package used to query the archive and download data.
Available via UPS setup spitzer_pride
command.
The Spitzer IRS Custom Extraction (SPICE) software provides a JAVA-based tool that allows the user to interactively extract Spitzer Infrared Spectrograph (IRS) spectra.
